Doxford House  Christmas week 2012
Having stayed in most of the cottages on numerous occasions previously, we knew what a wonderful place it is, but to spend the Christmas week at Doxford was incredible. The cottage had its Christmas tree, door wreath and poinsettia to add to the occasion. Sue and John left us mince pies too. We never strayed far, but we didnt want to. Having all day to bake and cook for the festive season was so relaxing. We had a fantastic family holiday, a great Christmas lunch and definitely didnt want to leave (wish we all had the holidays from work so we could do it again in 2013). Thanks again Sue, John and the ladies who prepared the cottage for our stay.

Having now visited Doxford Cottages too many times to remember and stayed in 6 out of the 8 cottages available (will have to visit minus the kids to complete the full set!), I can honestly say I have never been disappointed with a single aspect of these cottages! We have stayed at Doxford in all weathers and even in ice and snow have had a wonderful cosy break complete with wood burning stove and relaxing cosy evenings. Like a previous poster we too were lucky enough to see an otter on the lake and have become almost blasé about the amount of red squirrels, owls, deer and all manner of interesting birds you are privileged to witness at these beautiful cottages. I cannot recommend the area, these cottages or the managers John and Sue Pringle enough. So helpful yet unobtrusive! Roll on our next break....can't wait.

Exceptionally appointed cottage, comfortable, spacious with everything you need. The delight of watching red squirrels and various species of birds from the patio is fascinating. We were lucky to glimpse a pair of otters in the Doxford Lake. The location is ideal, with wonderful beaches nearby and so much to do in the area. Our second stay here and can't wait to return.

This week last year, we were picnicking on Bamburgh beach in shorts and tee shirts . Today you will need your thermals. But we'd stay at Doxford at any time of the year in any weather. It's our all time favourite place to holiday. Role on September when we are visiting again

Everything was as a 5* cottage merited and beyond.
Since our first visit some years ago, we have always thought Doxford as the best we have stayed in, and that was reinforced this time.
